Description:
A fascinating journey into the world of music and sustainability, where children will discover how to transform urban solid waste into unique musical instruments. During the workshop “Don’t Throw It Away… PLAY IT!”, participants will be guided by Marco Serra in creating instruments inspired by tribal and folk traditions, using recycled materials such as bottles, boxes, caps, and other objects commonly considered waste.
This workshop not only stimulates creativity and manual skills but also raises awareness among children about the importance of reuse and sustainable development. Through the art of creative recycling, they will learn to give new life to materials that would otherwise end up in landfills, turning them into functional musical instruments. At the end of the session, participants will have the opportunity to play together with the instruments they’ve just created, experiencing the joy of collective music-making.
Each child will take home the instrument they built, a special memento of a day where creativity and environmental awareness come together in harmony.
Participants: 15 children (ages 6-12)
Duration: 2 hours
Cost: €6 (each participant will take home the instrument they create)
Hosted by: Marco Serra, teacher and passionate musician
